Greek Preschool Program
The preschool program at the Greek Community School concentrates on
creating a loving, nurturing environment for the children in our care.
The classes include play-centered learning with multiple centers to
stimulate imagination and exploration and to encourage the development
of Greek as a second language. The program will include music, reading,
and crafts and will also focus on developing fine and gross motor skills.
We will also work to develop reading and language readiness, as well
as an introduction to Hellenic culture to assist in the transition to
Greek kindergarten.
Our mission for the Greek preschool is
to continuously expand each child’s innate gifts, to encourage their
ability to learn a second language and increase their knowledge,
skills and creativity through an educationally designed play approach
to learning.
Each class is led by a trained teacher
and assisted by a parent volunteer. Parents are an integral part of
the Greek preschool program and are given countless opportunities to
become involved as we feel it is vital to the well being and development
of our students.
This program is available to children
aged 3, 4 and 5 years old. Children must be 3 years old by September 1
and fully toilet trained in order to enrol. Classes will begin in
October and end in May.
There are 2 classes available so far; either
Monday mornings from 9:30 – 11:30am or
Tuesday afternoons from 12:30 – 2:30pm
Registration for the Greek Preschool is now closed.
Both Monday and Tuesday classes are FULL. The Saturday class will not be offered due to
a lack of interest for that day.
Registration information:
When registering, you will need to bring:
- Your child’s birth certificate or a copy of it.
- Your child’s medical information including his/her
Alberta Health Care number and doctor’s information. If
there are any medical issues you will also need a wallet
sized photo of your child that you can leave with the school.
- Payment in the form of cheques & cash. Credit cards
are accepted at our community office during office hours (usually 11:00am – 3:00pm).
Please call ahead to ensure that someone is there.
